Easter Cards...where are you???

Hello!
How is your week going?
Mine was hard but tomorrow it's Friday again so I can survive another day at the office LOL
Well...this week happened an odd thing...I was looking for a cute Easter card to send to a friend of mine in Holland...
I asked in 4 different shops and...could you believe this? nobody had Easter cards...
The reply was always the same...people don't send cards anymore...now they prefere internet, facebook, email, whats'app for theyr wishes so stores no longer  sell any cards for Easter...
What a shame!!!!
I love send and receive cards, surely it's better than an email...
Said this...I decide to try to make one by myself.
I'm not a card maker so I don't have any specific tool...
I started printing some free Easter image:

Then I chose the one I like the most and took a piece of cardstock

I sticked the printed image on the cardstock and then resize it to the right size for my envelope.
I found a cute ribbon and two buttons in my stash for embellish my card.

I sticked them onto the card too...

And my card was done

It's not a gorgeous one but...at least...it's one of a kind and I'm sure my friend will appreciate it because I was thinking of him and his family while I was making it and this make it so special...

Another UFO done!

 Hello!
Today I'm Happy to show you another UFO I finished last year...
I started it several years ago and then as often appen with big projects...I felt tired to work on it and I put it away and then...I completetely forgot about it...

Last year, while I was searching a piece of batting for another project...I've found this in a drower...

I didn't understand immediately wich lost project was it but searching better...I found the pattern too...

I decided to go ahead with it and try to finish it...
Surely I should have done the most part of the work...or so was what I tought...
This is what I did in the past so it seemed to me that...not much extra work was required...
Mmm...totally wrong... LOL...

First I found that I don't like at all that flower basket in the corner with the white background...I really could not remember why I chose the white instead a yellow for example...
So...instead to make the other 3 corners blocks...I put away this one and make other 4...

Then I pieced together some of the blocks in rowsfor the quilting part.
I decided to use the As You Go method because the quilt was big enough to make it difficult to quilt it all together...

Once all the pieces were quilted...I cut all the excess of batting and joined together the whole quilt...

At this point...I've add the backing and sew the binding but I didn't take pics of this...

And...TADAAAA...my beautiful quilt finally was done and he got a special place in my sewing room...

If you ever had UFOs...and if you are a quilter...you surely had...you know the big joy you feel when you finish one of them!

So was for me.

Colorful Crochet

How are you all?
March is already here but...the weather probably didn't notice that LOL!!!
Here we are having icing, snow, rain...
More close to Winter then Spring actually but...you know...everything could change in few hours...
So, for puttin myself in a happy mood, I decided to show you some colorful Mandalas I made last year...

When I was a child, both my Grandmas were so good in handcrafts...
I was lucky enough to have one living near me (in the north of Italy) and one living so far, in the south of Italy.
I said I was lucky because they both were great women and totally different.
Anyway, Grandma living near me was so good in knitting, she made me tons of beautiful sweathers...
The other one was great in crocheting, she made beautiful shawls, blankets, sleeping socks ...
But...as often happen, I was not interested at all in learning knitting or crocheting...
Now...I regret every day that I've never asked them to teach me but...you know...it's too late...
They both passed away several years ago and so...I "asked" to the web to teach me...
It's not the same thing of course but I've learned how to crochet watching videos.

I have to say that I was not interested in crocheting in the past because here around crocheting was just doilies...I never liked so much white doilies...well...not at all in effect...
But...browsing  through the web I found lots of beautiful and colorful crochet things so I started to like crochet...
In the past I made myself some beautiful shawls and scarves, coasters and I've also made some Amigurumi (they are totally addicting LOL).
Then...I discovered Mandalas and...I fell totally in love with them...
They are a sort of modern doilies but totally different!
Fun and colorful, exactly the kind of things I love to make!
So...there are few I made...

I spent some fun hours making them

And they make me happy each time I look at them

Few gifts I made lately

    Hello! ! I'm back and I want to show you some gifts I made lately... This one was for a friend of mine's daughter... She moved into a new house with her family and so when I went to visit them...I brought them this little present... It's a cross stitch embroidery made with my sewing machine...                        

       Surely for the hand cross stitch lovers this is not a cutie but I can say that it's lovely and it was so fun make it and...of course...quickly than do it by hand 😬😬😬 I think they appreciate it... 😊                                

   Then I made two patchwork pillows... They were for 2 young girls...the pattern is the same but the color scheme changes according to the colors they have in their rooms... so...the one above was made with all the shades of green... For the one below I choose shades of pink, light and dark grey and a bit of gold...  

  Finally I made other two embroidery in the hoop... The first one is a cute cross stitch snowman embroidered on a light blue felt... Felt is perfect for this kind of embroidery, not only because the embroidery looks better on felt but also because it's easier to set the back too cause you can cut the felt and it does not fray at all...  

 Last but not least... I made this fun embroidery showing Mr. and Mrs. Claus dancing together...

I love it...it's so happy and fun...

Mission Baby Quilt...DONE

Hello my Friends!!!

How are you going?

I've just finished my first quilt of the year...

It's good as we are only in January LOL!!!

My first quilt was a baby quilt I made for a friend of mine that got a new girl the last days of December...

Yesterday I visited her and gave her the quilt...she loves it!

It is a very easy pattern, quick and easy but the quilt is adorable with the pastels colors...

I made it in rows...it's made of three rows...

I start piecing the rows...

Then when the rows were pieced I quilted them with the As You Go method...in this way is more easy...

When all the rows were quilted, I sewed the back and then I've add the border and...TADA!!!!

Here it is...

Now I'm ready to start another project...

I'll keep you posted about it!

Table Topper...DONE!!!!

Hello My Friends!!!
How is your week going?
Mine is started good...work, gym...nothing of too much fun but ok...it's only Tuesday!!! LOL!!!

Sunday I spent a quite day at home, doing a bit of cleaning, ironing and...sewing!!!
Did you remember my last post?
I spoke about a table topper I started to make 2 Sundays ago with a friend of mine!
Past Sunday...I finished it!!! YAY!!!!

I have to say that I really loooove the way it turned out!!!
And I love the fact that this is the first finished project in a long time.

I found this beautiful pattern on Pinterest...you know...I have a gazillion of things "saved" there and I love to browse through them!
I pinned it few months ago and finally I decided to make it!

It's a very versatile design, you can make it with any kind of fabric and so make it for holydays too or one for each season...LOL!!!
I think this could make great Xmas gifts too!

I made it with light grey, light blue/aqua and red fabrics, perfect for my kitchen's colors!

Summer DIY Clothes

Hello My Friends!!!!

How is your Sunday going?

Here it's cloudy and cold after the rainstorm we have had last night...

Today...I would love to show you my first attempt to make clothes for myself...

Lately...I've had so much fun working on some very basic and easy clothes for myself...

I found some very cute knit fabrics for 2 euros a piece (and some for FREE!!!) so...I tried to make something...

As the fabrics were very cheap...I tought that...also if I wasn't able to make anything cute with them...I don't wast so much money...

I've got this very cute and happy fabric (the grey one with colorful flowers) for free...a big piece...

So, I made the halter top and the ruffle skirt...

This is so summery, happy and...I feel so confortable wearing it!!!!

But...I still had another piece of this fabric so...

I made myself a dress too...

It was so much fun experimenting, adding elastics...

I love the way it turned out!!!

Next one was the purple one...

I combined 2 different kinds of fabrics, addedd ruffles...cut here...sew there and...voilà...this is the result...

I forgot to say that...I didn't use any pattern for them...

Just...tought to something and...tried to realize it!

Ok, this is the last one...for one day to the beach...

Lovely colors...and easy fit!

I have to say that...I'm satisfied about my attempts and...as I've had so much fun...I surely will try to make something else...
